Charmaine Dragun

May 5, 2009 § 1 Comment

Saw the most moving account on ABC TV’s Australian Story about Channel 10 newsreader Charmaine Dragun’s battle with depression and how that eventually resulted in her life being cut tragically short.  It was incredibly courageous of her family and friends to share their account of what happened.

Their desire that it should help others is why I’m drawing your attention to it.  If you have any concerns about a friend, loved one or colleague then perhaps you should watch this programme and/or contact a professional organisation like Beyond Blue for advice about what to do.

The tragedy of this awful condition is that just when someone most needs help, they’re either seemingly at their most confident, or at the other extreme, at their least lovable.

§ One Response to Charmaine Dragun

  • paul says:

hi alex, i also suffer from this horrid depression, it has taken a lot from me and given nothing in return but total heart ache,i can still remember the day my world turned upside down for me, i remember were i was and what i was doing that day but i cant remember what the date was.
watching the story on charmaine dragun was sad for me but gave me something to really think about and where i want my future to go, i felt so bad for her parents and friends knowing they would never see her again is not something i want my family to go through, and i am sure something charmaine wasnt in the frame of mind for which scares me as i dont know about myself sometimes.
its always so nice to talk about these things but as you it kind of swept under the carpet, thank you for letting me open up just a bit here , sorry if i seem to be rambling on, so much to say i guess, regards paul
